Join the WSU University Marketing & Communications team as a social media intern. Experience first-hand what it takes to be a social media professional and an important member of a dynamic team. Responsibilities begin in April 2025. A successful candidate MUST be available to work all or part of Summer 2025 (May – Aug 2025) in Pullman, as well as Fall Semester 2025 and Spring Semester 2026 in Pullman. This is a paid position with 10-19 hours per week. The position may also be used as internship credit. Apply today at the bottom of the page!

Duties include:
- Monitoring and managing various social media accounts for University Marketing & Communications
- Creating online posts including visual content using Adobe Creative Cloud products
- Capturing video and photo content for online posting
- Covering Pullman campus events
- Responding to online social media posts
- Tracking and analyzing data from campaigns
- Assisting in strategic planning
Skills required:
- Experience using various types of social media including:
- Facebook, X, TikTok, YouTube, Instagram and LinkedIn
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Be comfortable reaching out and communicating with students and social media professionals
- Experience producing photo and video content:
- Basic knowledge of Adobe Photoshop, Premiere, Illustrator, Microsoft Office, and minimal design skills
- Must be able to sit and work at a computer and use an iPhone or other digital device for multiple hours at a time
- Ability to attend events around the Pullman campus and remotely, and provide coverage for the social media team after normal business hours

Application task:
Using the fictional information below, create a short advertising and video campaign, to come from @wsupullman social media accounts. Create a series of mock social posts that would be posted before, during, and after the event, as if you were covering it live. You are allowed to use Instagram, Instagram Stories, Facebook, and X during the in-person event.
Additionally, please create a video editorial for a Instagram Reels video highlighting the event as a post-event video. You don’t have to make a real video, just outline your audio choice, editing tools, types of shots, length, and captions/text. Use as much or as little of the provided information below as you see fit, and creativity is expected.
Please note on your plans if a post is a video or photo. Finally, let us know how you would measure the success of your campaign and event posts.

2025 prompt:
The Office of Student Engagement Services at WSU Pullman will be hosting an art competition for students to show off their creative skills and get involved on campus! The event will be held on Friday, April 4, 2025 at 6 p.m. in the Fine Arts Building. This is a main featured event of Spring 2025 Family Weekend.
Supplies such as paper, pencils, colored pencils, markers, erasers, and rulers will be provided. Students will have 1 hour to create their masterpiece where they will then be graded by three WSU art professors.
There’ll be free food and drinks provided (with accommodations for dietary restrictions and allergies), and a plethora of exciting prizes to win.
The hashtag for the event is #CreativeCougs. Local media have been invited to cover the event.

Junior Timothée Chalamet won the grand prize of an iPad for a black and white marker drawing of Butch T Cougar.
Sophomore Robert Pattinson won second place with his watercolor piece of a Palouse sunset and received a $100 gift card to the Bookie.
First year student Taylor Swift won a WSU Yeti water bottle with her color pencil drawing of a Kansas City Chiefs player.
WSU Mascot Butch T Cougar showed up at 6:30 p.m. to check on the progress of the competitors and even attempted a painting too.
73 people attended to watch & 10 students competed in the competition.
KXLY TV and The Daily Evergreen showed up to cover the event and interviewed Junior Timothée Chalamet.
